Killeen Fire Department is now offering a fire academy for individuals interested in a career in the fire service. The curriculum for the fire academy is the approved Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighter Course. Successful completion will enable an individual to take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection certification exam, as well as, meet or exceed the necessary qualifications of employment with many fire departments. The fire academy will operate 2 classes per year. The classes have a maximum of 30 students per class and are filling up quickly.
