Loud Noise Ordinance Information
The Killeen Police Department has adopted a strict adherence enforcement policy in regards to violations of the loud music or noise ordinance. The excessive number of citizen complaints in regards to this problem, citywide, prompted this change. This change is specifically directed toward motor vehicles.
The City of Killeen Code of Ordinances can be found on the City of Killeen Website. The specific ordinance concerning Loud Noise violations is found under Chapter 16, Article III, Section 16-77.
Under the strict adherence enforcement policy, violators are cited on their first offense and the second violation could result in an arrest.
Since the Strict Adherence Enforcement Policy was implemented 3388 citations have been issued.
Citizens are reminded that the Strict Adherence Enforcement Policy also applies to everyone using the city parks. The Killeen Police Department has seen an improvement regarding loud music coming from vehicles, but wishes to remind all citizens that they are taking this enforcement seriously and asking everyone to abide by the ordinance.
